Rules for Student Admission to Secondary Specialized Education Institutions of the Republic of Azerbaijan
Student admission to secondary specialized education institutions is carried out on a competitive basis, fully ensuring citizens' right to education, through the free choice of specialty and educational institution by capable and well-prepared applicants who have best mastered the educational programmes corresponding to the relevant level of education.
Admission to secondary specialized education institutions based on full secondary education is carried out by the State Examination Centre based on the results (the score obtained on a 90-point scale) achieved by applicants taking the graduation exam at the full secondary education level in the current academic year in that exam, and by other applicants in the entrance exam held in the relevant academic year.
Participation in the competition is subject to a fee. Applicants are given 30 closed-type test tasks per subject, 90 in total. The duration of the exam at the full secondary education level is 2 hours 15 minutes.
Applicants taking the graduation exam at the full secondary education level in the current academic year do not take an entrance exam and take part in the competition based on the results they obtained in the graduation exam.
Except for the Azerbaijani and Russian languages, pupils studying at general education institutions where instruction is conducted in other languages must, in order to take part in the competition for specialties of secondary specialized education institutions based on the results of the graduation exam, also take an exam in the Azerbaijani or Russian language within the framework of the graduation exam, in accordance with the language of instruction in which they wish to study at the secondary specialized education level.
Applicants are placed within the number of vacant places for each specialty, taking into account the order of the specialties they selected. Applicants are placed in the first of the specialties for which they passed the competition.
After the results of the competition are announced, the remaining vacant places are announced, applicants make their specialty selection in accordance with clauses 4.1 and 4.2 of these Rules, and placement in those places is carried out on a competitive basis.
